Leeds United’s Pawel Cibicki was given a very rare outing in the Championship this weekend.

One major positive that came out of Leeds United’s 3-1 win away to QPR on Saturday, aside from hat-trick hero Kemar Roofe, was the sight of Pawel Cibicki playing a big role for the first team.
Before the trip to Loftus Road, the 23-year-old, who joined for £1.5 million in the summer, hadn’t even made his Championship debut for the Whites, but a first-half injury to Caleb Ekuban saw Thomas Christiansen introduce Cibicki and the Swedish attacker justified the decision.

The former Malmo star set up Roofe’s second of the afternoon on 68 minutes with a fantastic low cross that is sure to have impressed head coach Christiansen from the dugout.
During the celebrations, a delighted Luke Ayling lept on to his back in a gesture which perhaps symbolises that Cibicki is finally a Leeds player, after waiting four months for his league debut.
This time last week the mere idea that Cibicki would be on the pitch, involved in the post-goal celebrations looked unlikely by virtue of how anonymous he had been under Christiansen.
But it goes to show that Christiansen will give his fringe players a chance and the likes of Mateusz Klich should take note.
