After a very, very quiet summer transfer window, it’s absolutely vital that Liverpool avoid any injury problems within their thin squad.
Sadly, Jürgen Klopp has already received some stressful news on this front.
Roberto Firmino hobbled off against Chelsea, while Takumi Minamino and Harvey Elliott have also suffered injuries over the international break.
In that respect, there were surely hearts in mouths all over Merseyside when Virgil van Dijk went down holding his ankle last night.

With 32 seconds of the Netherlands’ 6-1 win over Turkey to play, Van Dijk sat on the turf with a grimace on his face.
Thankfully, the 30-year-old addressed the situation after full-time, informing worried Liverpool fans that he was fine.
As quoted by Eurosport, Van Dijk said: “I’m fine, luckily. I’m already over it. Maybe because I am so big, they think I am acting.”
Along with Mohamed Salah, the Dutchman is certainly one player Klopp really won’t want to be without at any stage this season.
Of course, the German wouldn’t want to lose any of his players, but those two are by far and away Liverpool’s most important figures.
Having said that, the Reds are definitely better equipped to cope if they do lose Van Dijk once again this season.
The £36m arrival of Ibrahima Konate has added real quality depth to the centre-back department, while Joe Gomez is also fit again.
Hopefully, Van Dijk can feature in every game this season.
After missing nearly the entirety of last season, the colossal defender must make up for lost time and help to bring silverware back to Anfield again.
