Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp welcomed the teenager to Tuesday’s session at Melwood.
There was a new face in Liverpool training on Tuesday.
Jurgen Klopp took 17-year-old Leighton Clarkson and introduced him to his senior session alongside his Champions League-winning players.
Clarkson, a midfielder, is a highly-rated product of the club’s Kirkby academy and was rewarded for his promise with a first professional contract at Liverpool earlier this summer.
According to The Echo, Clarkson also trained with Klopp’s first team last week – another indication that the German manager is a fan of the teen.
Here are some pictures of him rubbing shoulders with the giants at Melwood.
Clarkson, who turns 18 in October, won’t be getting a Premier League debut any time soon, but Klopp has played young player in the League Cup in the past and it’ll be interesting to see if the former Borussia Dortmund coach uses him in that competition.
He helped the Reds’ Under-18 side to an FA Youth Cup last season – their first in 12 years.
