Leeds United moved themselves back to the top of the Championship on Tuesday night.
One of the reasons that Leeds have been so lethal this season is the fact that almost any member of Marcelo Bielsa’s side is capable of producing a moment of magic and finding the back of the net.
There are only a handful of outfield players within the Whites squad still yet to score this term, while nine different players have scored three or more in the Championship.
With that kind of quality, Leeds’ speciality has become scoring goals that involve lightning-quick attacks that somehow seem to see almost every player on the pitch play a role.
And that perhaps explains one of the images showing the celebration following Mateusz Klich’s opener during their 3-0 win against Reading on Tuesday that has sent the side back to the top of the table.
Klich was given the simple task of passing the ball into the net from around 12 yards out after a brilliant team move that started when the Pole found Pablo Hernandez just inside the Royals half.
The Spaniard – who went on to bag an outstanding brace – then gave the ball to Tyler Roberts, who proceeded to slide in right-back Luke Ayling.
The defender’s cut-back inside the box looked set to find Patrick Bamford, but the striker produced a delicious dummy to allow Klich to bag his eighth of the campaign in the league. There was only about eight seconds between Klich’s two touches at the start and conclusion of the move.
This squad seems to be very much aware of how important every other player is to the team’s success, and that mentality is perhaps best encapsulated by the photo showing the likes of Klich, Hernandez, Roberts, Gjanni Alioski, Jack Harrison and Pontus Jansson all embracing after the goal.
From the image alone, you would not have known which of the men it was that scored the goal. And that seems to be exactly how Marcelo Bielsa would like it to be as Leeds’ promotion charge seems to be edging towards top gear…
