Leeds United’s Frank Mulhern has signed with Huddersfield after a successful trial spell.

Frank Mulhern has signed for Huddersfield Town after being allowed to leave Leeds United.

The young striker’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and Leeds had allowed Mulhern to join up with the Terriers on trial.

Mulhern made a name for himself in Leeds’ under-21 squad early in 2015/16, but was unable to build on his strong performances.

He was sent on loan to non-league Southport in September, but barely featured and after picking up an injury he rejoined the Whites.

Head coach Garry Monk had made clear Mulhern was down the pecking order in January when he selected the younger Mallik Wilks for a first team opportunity, coming off the bench for the FA Cup game against Sutton United.

Mulhern is an Ireland youth international and is currently 19-years-old.

He is at Huddersfield until the end of the season, and has the chance to earn himself a longer contract or even put himself in the shop window to sign a deal elsewhere in the summer.
