The Swiss defender was happy to derobe from the waist down.

Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi is certainly a popular figure among the Elland Road faithful. The Swiss defender is a hard-hitting, strong tackling and uncompromising full-back who certainly taps into the fans needs from a Leeds player.

Now it is also clear he is not afraid to go the extra mile to please his supporters.

Berardi entered the fray against Brentford at the weekend, after Charlie Taylor had to limp off during the game.

Afterward, with Leeds winning 1-0, fans of the club were asking for the shirt of their heroes as they left the field.

However, Berardi explained he could not give away his shirt on this occasion – but how about his shorts:

It was a surprising gesture from Berardi on a cold evening in West Yorkshire but one clearly appreciated by the fan in question.

The Swiss defender has had to settle for a place on the bench for much of this season, with injury trouble and the signing of Luke Ayling seeing him out of the starting XI.

But he remains a good option for Leeds off the bench and a popular figure with the club’s fans.
