On-loan Leeds United man Vurnon Anita faced a future star this past weekend.

Vurnon Anita must finally be enjoying himself since leaving Leeds United on loan.

Deemed surplus to requirements by Leeds’ Director of Football Victor Orta, the Dutch utility player joined Willem II for the 2018-19 campaign.

The 29-year-old, largely a fringe player at Elland Road last season, was on the losing side this past weekend as Ajax cruised to a 2-0 win, but the former Newcastle United man is finally earning regular chances.

Anita has now started Willem’s last three games in a row, having been forced to wait until October 28 for his place in a first XI.

In addition to the increased playing time, the Leeds-owned man is coming up against some of the world’s most exciting young players and faced Frenkie de Jong on Saturday.

According to Spanish publication Sport, the 21-year-old is worth around £75 million to Ajax and Barcelona are said to be hot on his heels.

Leeds are hardly suffering without Anita, given that Marcelo Bielsa’s side sit top of the Championship, but it seems like the decision to leave is the best for all parties.
