A Leeds United fan bumped into Victor Orta at last night’s defeat – and claims to have received an interesting response to a transfer question.

Leeds United lost to Oxford United in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday to ramp up the pressure on Director of Football Victor Orta with regards to signings.

It was an under-strength Leeds XI for the most part, but losing 4-3 to the League One side isn’t a good look regardless and fans’ calls for new additions will surely only intensify as a result.

The Whites have only signed Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman – both on loan from Chelsea – so far this summer and despite hiring Marcelo Bielsa as head coach, reinforcements are hugely important if the Elland Road side are to challenge for Premier League promotion this season.

Plenty of exciting names have been linked, including Abel Hernandez and Matej Vydra, but The Yorkshire Evening Post reported earlier this month that moves for both broke down due to finances.

However, one fan of the West Yorkshire side who attended last night’s defeat at the Kassam Stadium managed to bump into Orta, who apparently gave an interesting response when asked about transfers.

It’s very possible that the Spaniard merely fobbed off the supporter in question by telling him what he wanted to hear, but for his and Leeds’ sake you hope that the club really does have something exciting up their sleeve.

Without it, it could be more of the same for the Elland Road outfit next season.
