Reading striker was critical of opponents Leeds ahead of this weekend’s clash.
Reading’s Yann Kermorgant attempts an overhead kick
Reading striker Yann Kermorgant hit out at Leeds United this week, branding the Whites a one man team, too reliant on top scorer Chris Wood.
The Yorkshire Evening Post quoted him: “Chris Wood has scored nearly all of Leeds’ goals this season. If he gets injured, they have no plan B. As a striker, I always want more goals, but as long as we get a result, I am happy.”
His manager Jaap Stam has also revisited the bad blood after the previous match between the two teams, but Kermorgant’s comments will have really riled the Whites.
Perhaps there is another reason Kermorgant is not a fan of Leeds United…
Bournemouth’s Yann Kermorgant after missing a penalty as Leeds’ Luke Murphy celebrates
Yann Kermorgant has not enjoyed a good run against Leeds United in recent times.
In 2015 when he was playing for Bournemouth, he cost his side points with a missed penalty in the 86th minute at Elland Road. Leeds won the game 1-0, with Kermorgant’s penalty miss vital.
Kermorgant will not have enjoyed seeing Leeds ace Luke Murphy, now out on loan, celebrating his miss gleefully right in front of him.
The Reading striker will hope for better success this weekend, but if he flops again, Leeds really will have good reason to celebrate after his pre-game comments.
