Rondon is yet to make an impact at Newcastle since joining in the summer.

Newcastle United have received a major boost on Wednesday afternoon as summer signing Salomon Rondon returning to full training ahead of Saturday afternoon’s clash against Southampton.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined with a thigh injury since Newcastle drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace back in September, as he struggles to make an impact in the north east since joining on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

Newcastle need a boost from somewhere as they sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, following seven losses and two draws in nine Premier League matches.

That boost could come in the form of Venezuela international, who was pictured taking part in Newcastle’s training session on Wednesday ahead of the trip to the south coast to face Southampton.

Rondon has only made four Premier League appearances for Newcastle, failing to find the back of the net. He did, however, score in the Carabao Cup loss to Nottingham Forest.

It remains to be seen if the former Malaga and Zenit St. Petersburg striker will start against the Saints, or whether Rafa Benitez will continue his faith in Joselu.

It is believe there is a clause in Rondon’s contract to turn the loan into a permanent deal, with the striker’s current £60,000-a-week contract (Spotrac) set to expire in the summer of 2019.
