Kalvin Phillips expressed his delight on social media as Leeds United’s pre-season training begins.

Kalvin Phillips took to Instagram to post a picture of himself back training with his Leeds United teammates and included a simple caption to express his delight at being back out on the pitch.
There is plenty of optimism and intrigue surrounding Elland Road right now – and it is difficult to know which one is in greater measure currently – following the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa, who succeeds Paul Heckingbottom following the Englishman’s brief tenure at the club.

Given Bielsa’s reputation, it seems entirely possible that he could look to reform the club at several levels and implement the tactics that have led to the 62-year-old being labelled one of the game’s great innovators of the last few decades.
If he does change things tactically, there is perhaps scope for several first-team regulars to find themselves in danger of becoming much less important – the fans may argue that is not necessarily a terrible thing though after last season – and those previously on the periphery to become much more prominent under the new head coach.

Midfield is certainly an area where there may be a couple of surprises. Over the last two seasons, Leeds have had a cluster of options in the middle of the park that have been rotated quite regularly, and it is perhaps one of the few areas in the squad where the depth looks strong right now.
Phillips played a key role last season, so it will be very interesting to see what Bielsa has in store for the academy graduate. But for now, the 22-year-old is clearly pleased to have returned to training and will be hoping that he can impress the new boss during the coming weeks.
