Jonathan Kodjia’s goalless streak extended on Friday, but Aston Villa picked up a win nonetheless.

It was a great night for Aston Villa on Friday, but not for Jonathan Kodjia.

Dean Smith’s side responded to back-to-back defeats by beating Bolton Wanderers 2-0 at Villa Park last night.

Kodjia, who has only one goal in his last 12 games for Aston Villa, missed a couple of decent opportunities to break his duck.

And one photograph has perfectly encapsulated the Ivorian striker’s struggles at the moment.

Jack Grealish opened the scoring for Villa within only four minutes, before James Chester made the game safe midway through the second half.

It’s a good step forward for the East Midlands side, but they’re still five points adrift of the top six and 13th in the Championship.

As for Kodjia, well he will surely bounce back…..eventually.

After all, this is the same player who netted 19 goals in 36 Championship outings during his first season at the club, illustrating that the ability is there first and foremost.

He, like a lot of Aston Villa players over the past year, is in a major funk, evident by the fact that he only has four goals in his last 29 matches for the Villans.

It’s a worry and if he doesn’t start firing this side of Christmas then maybe, just maybe, a new striker is needed to rival him and Tammy Abraham.
