Joe Hart shows his support for Wolves goalkeeper

The football community is still reeling from the unwelcome news that Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is battling acute leukaemia.

The popular goalkeeper is undergoing treatment on the illness, and Wolves are keeping his number one jersey assigned to him in the hope he can one day recover fully, The Mail report.

Teammates and peers are rallying round the 31-year-old, and ex-Wolves stopper Matt Murray paid Ikeme a visit yesterday.

He was not the only one, with England international goalkeeper and Manchester City ace Joe Hart also stopping by.

Joe Hart is currently looking for a new club, but he won’t be taking Ikeme’s spot at Wolves.

The Championship side acted last week to sign free agent John Ruddy, who left Norwich City after seven years at the Canaries.

Wolves last night won a high profile pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen, with Nouha Dicko scoring the winner.
