Belgium beat England 1-0 in the World Cup on Thursday night.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has taken to Instagram in order to post a photo of shirts from Spurs teammates Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Harry Kane.
Vertonghen has been a part of the Belgium side which has impressed at the World Cup in Russia, playing a key role in wins over Panama and Tunisia to open Roberto Martinez’s campaign.
The Spurs star was left out of Belgium’s game against England though, with the experienced centre back dropped to the bench in order to preserve his fitness for Belgium’s upcoming last 16 clash.
Belgium made wholesale changes, as did England, and it as Martinez’s men who came out on top, with ex-Manchester United and Sunderland winger Adnan Januzaj scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win for Belgium.
Belgium now advance to play Japan in the next round of the competition, whilst England will take on Colombia, where Spurs stars such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Kieran Trippier are likely to be recalled.
Two Spurs players did play for England as Danny Rose and Eric Dier played at left wing back and holding midfield respectively, whilst Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele also featured for Belgium.
Today, Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen has taken to Instagram to show that he managed to grab the England shirts of club teammates Rose, Dier and even Kane, who didn’t make it off the bench last night, much like Vertonghen.
The centre back won’t forget the meeting of so many Tottenham players in Kaliningrad, and neither will Spurs fans – even if some of their top players were left on the respective benches.
