Leeds United tied teenage striker Jack Clarke down to a professional contract on Thursday.
Leeds United forward Jack Clarke has taken to Twitter to react after penning his professional contract with the club.
Whilst big signings such as Samu Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski and Pierre-Michel Lasogga shaped Leeds’ summer transfer business, there has also been a focus on youth development at Elland Road.
The likes of Bryce Hosannah, Oriol Rey, Hugo Diaz, Ousama Siddiki, Kun Temenuzhkov, Adrian Balboa, Madger Gomes and Oliver Sarkic all arrived at Elland Road over the summer, but homegrown players are also vital.
The Leeds academy has been famed over the years, with Premier League players such as Sam Byram, Charlie Taylor, Lewis Cook, Danny Rose, Fabian Delph and James Milner all coming up through the ranks with Leeds.
That conveyor belt of talent doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon, and Leeds tied up a professional contract for another young talent on Thursday.
Striker Jack Clarke turned 17 on Thursday, and subsequently signed his first professional deal with the club as he looks to make the eventual step up to first-team football in the coming years.
Backed as a ‘top talent’ by former Leeds ace Ian Harte and wanted by Premier League clubs, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Clarke will be hoping to fulfil his potential with the Whites – and he took to Twitter to react to his new deal.
Clarke admitted he was ‘delighted’ to sign his contract, noting that it was a proud day for him and his family as he posted a photo signing his deal alongside manager Thomas Christiansen and sporting director Victor Orta.
