Rangers made quite a surprising announcement on Friday.
It was confirmed by the Gers that Giovanni van Bronckhorst had hired Dave Vos to be his assistant manager.
There was a lot of speculation over who the new Rangers boss would select.
But Vos was never really in the equation because, well, why would he be?
This is somebody who Van Bronckhorst has never worked with in the past and that’s why it was such a strange move.
Normally, new managers bring somebody who they have a lot of history and experience with as their assistant, but there’s none of that between Van Bronckhorst and Vos.
The Dutchman secured his first Premiership win since returning to Rangers earlier this month with a 3-1 victory away to Livingston today.
And Vos was pictured in the stands. Here’s some photos of the man himself:
It’s an all-Dutch setup at Ibrox from here on in, with Van Bronckhorst previously bringing Roy Makaay, Arno Philips and Yori Bosschaart to Glasgow with him in various roles.
Vos has joined Rangers from Ajax’s academy, having been the club’s Under-18 manager.
When you consider how prestigious that particular academy is, it’s quite an exciting appointment.
Overall Van Bronckhorst has one hell of a backroom staff in Scotland and it’ll be fascinating to see how they fare this season.
