Photo: How Mourinho reacted to Bale’s second for Spurs

Jose Mourinho finally brought Gareth Bale back into his first XI for a Premier League game – and he was handsomely rewarded.

Spurs swatted aside Burnley in North London today as Mourinho’s side recorded a 4-0 victory.

Prior to today, Bale had only started two games in this competition since returning to Tottenham on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

But the Welshman justified his manager’s faith by opening the scoring inside two minutes, prodding past Nick Pope from close range.

Bale completed his brace early in the second half with a much more difficult finish, bending it past Pope with that wand of a left foot of his.

And Mourinho offered a little fist pump in celebration of that goal:

It was a brilliant all-round performance by Bale – who also set up Harry Kane’s goal in the first half with a long-distance pass – and Mourinho brought him off on 70 minutes for Erik Lamela.
