Kirk Broadfoot was left with egg on his face as Rangers snatched victory this afternoon.
Connor Goldson’s bullet header in stoppage time led to the Gers beating Kilmarnock 2-1 at Rugby Park earlier today.
The hosts had equalised on 83 minutes, but the big Rangers defender was on hand to power home a James Tavernier corner to give the Premiership title hopefuls all three points in their league opener.
And the fact that it was Broadfoot who Goldson got the run on makes it sweeter for the light Blues fans.
The veteran centre-back, who spent five years at Ibrox, has lost some clout with Rangers supporters after his coming-togethers with Alfredo Morelos last season.
And Broadfoot looked furious directly after Goldson’s goal as a photo on Twitter shows him punting the ball away.
This was a big win for Gerrard’s side; not only because Rugby Park was a bogey ground for them last season, but because Celtic won 7-0 on Saturday and falling two points behind this early wouldn’t have been good.
