The 28-year-old left-back was left out of the Reds’ matchday squad for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Before the match, Enrique posted the following photo on social networking site Twitter, a clear indication that he was supporting his teammates despite not being at Old Trafford.
That post sparked speculation that Enrique had picked up an injury, but the Spaniard later clarified his situation with the following message.
It seems that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers did not deem Enrique suitable enough for the match against United.
