The wide-man had struck up a good rapport with the Leeds club captain.

Leeds United caused something of a shock the day after transfer deadline day, as the club announced the decision to terminate Sol Bamba’s contract by mutual consent.

The Ivorian left Elland Road due to personal reasons, claimed the official Leeds statement, and the club captain was gone.

Bamba has of course struck up some good relationships since he has been at Leeds, and even with some of the new recruits.

One such player was Hadi Sacko. The pair share a native tongue and an agent, so it is no surprise that Sacko was taken in by the gentle giant.

So the wide-man was always going to be impacted by his departure.

Today he took to Instagram to pay his homage to the departing Leeds star, and thank him for helping him settle in at Elland Road:

Good luck Captain , thank you for the help you bring me since my arrival #SolBamba#HS24#LUFC#MOT

Bamba’s form on the pitch had deserted him recently. He was struggling this term and the signings of Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson left him slipping down the pecking order.

But it should not detract away from the fact that Bamba could be a great leader in the dressing room.

Leeds fans will undoubtedly wish him well in the future.
