Dorrans is yet to feature for Rangers under Steven Gerrard.
Steven Gerrard has made the bold call to include injury-prone midfielder Graham Dorrans in the group of players chosen to travel to Spain as Rangers face Villarreal on Thursday.
Rangers get their Europa League group stage campaign underway in Group G of the competition at El Madrigal, before they face Rapid Vienna of Austria and Spartak Moscow of Russia.
Gerrard is without Alfredo Morelos and Jon Flanagan due to suspension, but 31-year-old midfielder Dorrans has been included in the travelling party after finally recovering from a long-standing ankle injury.
Pictures were posted on Rangers’ official Twitter account of players entering Glasgow airport before jetting off to Spain on Wednesday morning, and Dorrans was among the players (second picture of embedded Tweet).
The former Norwich City midfielder, who was signed by Pedro Caixinha last summer, managed five goals and four assists in 20 league and cup outings last season but injury stuttered his first season at Ibrox.
Indeed, the ankle problem he picked up against Kilmarnock in October saw him miss five months of action. He played on for the rest of the 2017-18 campaign, but it seems as though the return was premature.
He remained injured during pre-season and has not featured once under Gerrard so far, but he could now be included in the squad to face Villarreal after travelling with the rest of side to Spain.
