You could forgive Gareth Bale if he was excited about the prospect of Tottenham Hotspur facing Real Madrid earlier this week.
After all, the stage was set for his old club Spurs to come up against his current one, Real.
But going by recent images, the former Tottenham superstar couldn’t have cared less.
The North Londoners beat the Spanish giants 1-0 in an Audi Cup clash on Tuesday, but Bale had a round of golf instead, with the photo provided by El Confidencial.
Zinedine Zidane revealed that Bale was not fit enough to face Tottenham.
But the Welshman has played – and scored – against Arsenal in another pre-season friendly last week, so it remains to be seen if his absence is injury-related or a knock-on effect to Bale’s botched China move.
The 30-year-old has been tentatively linked with a return to North London this summer, but his £600,000-a-week wages from Madrid are a massive obstacle [The Sun].
