Celtic ended their Champions League campaign on something of a high with a spirited draw away at Manchester City.
With Celtic going into their game with Manchester City on Tuesday already knowing that their European adventure would be over following the fixture whatever the result, the attention – from the Hoops’ perspective – was perhaps mainly on Patrick Roberts and Moussa Dembele.
Roberts is currently on loan at Parkhead from the Citizens but was allowed to play in the game, while Dembele has been attracting plenty of attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs in recent times and Glasgow Live suggested that the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham would be sending representatives to the Etihad to have a look at the striker.
And while Dembele was not able to replicate his performance in the two sides’ previous meeting – where he scored twice in the 3-3 draw – his Bhoys teammate certainly made a notable impact.
It was Roberts who broke the deadlock in the fourth minute when an excellent run down the right flank allowed the winger to cut inside and unleash a shot into the bottom corner.
The former Fulham man appeared to have a good shout for a penalty turned down as well during the first-half as he appeared to be held as he ran into the box.
Meanwhile, Dembele had a glorious chance to put Celtic back in front following Kelechi Iheanacho’s equaliser, but the Frenchman failed to find the target despite having practically an open goal in front of him.
After seeing two goals in the first 10 minutes, the fans inside the ground would not see another during the remaining 80 as the likes of Leigh Griffiths and Gary Mackay-Steven missed good chances for the away side.
With that in mind, here is a look at some of the defining images from the 1-1 draw:
