Eyebrows were raised when Carlos Vinicius wasn’t included in Tottenham Hotspur’s midweek squad.
Spurs went down 2-1 to Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield, but Jose Mourinho didn’t have a striker on the bench due to Vinicius’s omission.
There was no talk of the big striker – who stands at 6’4 – being injured prior to the game, so it was odd for the Tottenham boss to exclude him.
But according to Football London, Mourinho simply felt he had better options and chose to include Lucas Moura and Dele Alli on the bench ahead of the summer loan signing from Benfica.
And the idea that he’s fit was confirmed on Friday when he was spotted among the players being put through their paces at Hotspur Way ahead of Sunday’s visit of Leicester City.
Speaking of being unable to make Mourinho’s squad, frozen-out goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga was also included in the session.
The Argentine stopper hasn’t been included in a single one of Mourinho’s squads in any competition this season and is something of a forgotten man, having deputised heavily for Hugo Lloris under the Portuguese coach and Mauricio Pochettino last term.
