Andre Villas-Boas and Andrei Arshavin have got all dressed up for Nike.

When Daniel Levy decided to sack Andre Villas-Boas in December 2013 it did not come as a surprise.

They had just lost 5-0 at home to Liverpool, at the time not a Premier League title freight train, and he had also become increasingly detached from the Spurs fans.

In reality it was a decision that had to be made.

The Portuguese boss was installed as the new Zenit St Petersburg manager last March – taking over from the sacked Luciano Spaletti at the mega-rich club.

He has been a hit in Russia and recently he picked up his first silverware with the club, winning the Russian Premier League.

To celebrate, he and his Zenit players have posed in a rather odd team photo.

The former Tottenham boss poses in the middle with former Arsenal player Andrei Arshavin dressed up as some sort of tsar. The photo, part of a publicity campaign for their sponsors Nike, has swiftly become a hit on social media.

No doubt that AVB, who certainly fancies himself as one of the more stylish football managers around, enjoyed this photo op more than he’d let on.
