Benitez invited a handful of managers to come and watch Newcastle training.
Former Sunderland manager Simon Grayson was spotted at Newcastle United’s training ground on Thursday after Rafa Benitez invited a handful of other managers to come and watch Toon training.
Benitez attended the UEFA Elite Club Coaches Forum in Nyon on Tuesday, and invited a number of those who had attended to come and watch the Spaniard in action as he put the Newcastle players through their paces.
A number of Toon stars are currently away on international duty, including the likes of DeAndre Yedlin, Martin Dubravka and Salomon Rondon, but the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Joselu and Rob Elliot all trained.
Newcastle posted a gallery of pictures on their official website, including Grayson who is visible in the third, fifth and six pictures uploaded by The Toon.
Former Leeds, Blackpool and Preston boss Grayson is still without a job after being sacked by Newcastle’s bitter rivals Sunderland, before failing to earn an extended deal with Bradford City – where he spent just three months.
Alongside Grayson and Benitez were the likes of former Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Sammy Lee, Gary Bowyer and Gary Caldwell were also in attendance.
Newcastle’s tough run of games continues after the international break, as they play host to Arsenal at St. James’ Park on September 15, before travelling to Crystal Palace a week later.
