Former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has begun work with Cruz Azul.
Pedro Caixinha’s spell as Rangers boss did not even last a year, with the Portuguese manager fired in October.
The writing was on the wall after their Europa League embarrassment in Luxembourg in June, while successive defeats to Celtic contributed to his downfall.
Caixinha has headed back to Mexico where he used to manage Santos Laguna, and has been appointed as the technical director at Cruz Azul.
He was unveiled by the club at a press conference yesterday.
Nobody would surely have thought that Caixinha would be back in work before Rangers had appointed a manager of their own, with the Gers still searching seven weeks on.
Rangers had hoped to lure Derek McInnes from Aberdeen as Caixinha’s successor but were snubbed last week, throwing their plans into disarray.
The good news is that caretaker Graeme Murty has improved results since he left, with Rangers climbing from fourth to second in the table.
