The Everton hitman has seven goals this season, but you wouldn’t have guessed it by his latest gaffe.
By virtue of the fact that he has scored seven times in 10 Premier League games for Everton, it would be fair to say that Romelu Lukaku is a man bang in form.
But the 23-year-old’s talismanic form for Everton seems to have deserted him during a match with Belgium on international duty last night.
Roberto Martinez’s side drew 1-1 with the Netherlands during a friendly clash in Amsterdam on Wednesday night, with Davy Klaassen’s 38th-minute penalty giving the hosts a 1-0 half-time lead, but Yannick Carrasco levelled late on.
But the equaliser could, and definitely should, have come a little sooner than it did, but the Toffees marksman fluffed his lines with an uncharacteristic miss.
Lukaku only had to tap into an empty net following a delicious low cross from Thorgan Hazard, but the Belgian superstar blazed over from a matter of yards out – and he couldn’t believe it.
