The Dutchman was feeling nostalgic on Throwback Thursday.
Everton manager Ronaldo Koeman
Everton have shown some improvement this season under the management of Ronald Koeman and the fans expected just that, considering the good jobs he had recently done at Feyenoord and Southampton.
Of course, fans at Goodison Park will know that Koeman is not only good at managing, but he could play a bit as well.
The Dutchman played for the likes of Ajax, PSV and Barcelona in his playing career. He was considered one of the finest defenders of his generation and a potent threat from set-pieces and on the attack. In fact, he scored 26 goals in one season at PSV.
Today he posted a throwback picture to his playing days on his Twitter account.
The Dutchman shared this picture of him in action during the 1994 World Cup in the USA:
He captained his nation at the tournament in which they were much fancied. Unfortunately for Koeman and Oranje they were knocked out by Brazil in the quarter-finals.
Koeman retired after that competition, bringing to an end to an illustrious international career. No doubt Everton fans would love to have a player of Koeman’s qualities in their back-line.
