Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Erik Lamela, has revealed that he has successfully undergone a hip surgery in Spain.
The Argentine attacking midfielder is on the road to recovery after going under the knife on Saturday to cure a hip problem that had ruled him out for five months.
The 25-year-old has posted this picture from the hospital bed, giving a thumbs up and sharing the message – “The Surgery went well, thanks to all for your positive messages.”
Lamela has made nine appearances for Spurs this season and had a goal and an assist to his name. The former AS Roma player has not played for the north Londoners since their EFL Cup defeat to Liverpool in October.
Tottenham have coped brilliantly despite his loss, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side are sitting second in the Premier League, seven points behind Chelsea.
Lamela is a key player for Pochettino and has a contract with Spurs till 2020. He will not return to action before next season, although there are doubts regarding his long-term future at the club.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Lamela has been linked with a return to his former club, Roma, while there have been interest from both the Milan clubs as well.
