David Raya has been given the nod for Arsenal against Everton but there appear to be no hard feelings from Aaron Ramsdale.

Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya have been pictured embracing ahead of Arsenal’s game against Everton this afternoon.

Arsenal head to Goodison Park this afternoon with Mikel Arteta chasing a victory against his former club.

The Gunners lost 1-0 away at Everton last season and will be desperate to avoid a similar fate this afternoon.

Everton have yet to win this season but Sean Dyche will certainly have his side up for this one.

Mikel Arteta benches Aaron Ramsdale for David Raya

The big news ahead of this afternoon’s game surrounds Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation.

Arteta has decided to drop Aaron Ramsdale to the bench in favour of starting summer signing David Raya.

The Spaniard has come in on loan from Brentford and has now received a first chance to shine in an Arsenal shirt.

The Daily Mail reported in the international break that Arteta was giving serious consideration to benching Ramsdale for Raya.

That has now come true but the England international doesn’t appear to hold anything against Raya.

Raya and Ramsdale spotted before Arsenal clash

Raya and Ramsdale have now been pictured in the pre-match warm-up with kick-off fast approaching.

The pair have been smiling and hugging, with seemingly no bad blood over Arteta’s decision to bench Ramsdale.

Some feared that Raya’s arrival could make things difficult for Ramsdale but he certainly didn’t appear too downbeat in the warm-up.

Maybe Ramsdale knows that he will be back in the side for Champions League games and that this is just a very brief stint on the bench.

Ramsdale always made it clear that he would embrace the competition though and is such a positive influence at Arsenal that we always expected him to take any Raya inclusion in his stride.
