Newcastle United are closing in on defender Emil Krafth.
According to The Guardian, Amiens defender Emil Krafth is on the verge of a £5million move to Newcastle United after weeks of speculation.
Despite seeing Javi Manquillo impress in pre-season and having DeAndre Yedlin in the squad too, Newcastle are keen on another right back under new boss Steve Bruce.
A host of names have been linked, but Swedish international Krafth has been a target for some time now, and a £5million swoop is close.
The Guardian claim that Krafth’s medical was scheduled for today, and he should be available to play for Newcastle against Arsenal this weekend.
In fact, a photo published exclusively by The Chronicle this afternoon shows Krafth arriving at Newcastle to put the finishing touches to his move.
That will be a boost to Bruce, completing his full back additions having landed Jetro Willems last week, whilst Krafth will be the second signing from Ligue 1 after signing Allan Saint-Maximin too.
Krafth impressed on loan at Amiens last season having joined from Bologna, and they turned his move permanent only this summer, seemingly readying himself to settle in France.
However, Amiens have turned a quick profit on Krafth, and he will now compete for playing time at St James’ Park, potentially leaving one of Manquillo or Yedlin to move on.
