Goals from Scott Sinclair and Tom Rogic did the damage for Celtic on a night which saw Leigh Griffiths targeted by Linfield fans in the second half.
The Scottish striker had coins and glass bottled pelted at him before the hour mark in scenes which somewhat marred the Hoops’ victory.

There is no excuse for such horrendous behaviour by fans, but did Griffiths somewhat antagonise the home support with a hand gesture?
The Belfast club are predominantly from a protestant background, and photographs on social media appear to show the Celtic man offering a ‘5-1’ gesture to the crowd, moments before the bottles and coins rained down on him.
It might well be a reference to the fact that Brendan Rodgers’s side beat Old Firm enemies Rangers by that scoreline on two occasions last season.
It was also a week which saw Orange Order marches take place in Belfast for the Twelfth of July celebrations, hence why the fixture was rescheduled for July 14, and the Celtic striker’s gesture was never going to go down well.
