Tottenham Hotspur suffered a damaging defeat away to Liverpool on Saturday evening.
Tottenham Hotspur headed into the Premier League clash against Liverpool knowing that a victory would severely dent the Reds’ hopes of a top four finish.
But in the end it was Liverpool who caused the damage, winning comfortably and ensuring that only two points now separate second and sixth in the table.

Two goals from returning hero Sadio Mane were enough to secure all three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side and leave Spurs frustrated as they made the long trip back to North London.
At the final whistle Spurs midfielder Dele Alli could not hide his frustration as he screamed into the air while teammate Harry Kane reflected sombrely on what might have been.

There is still a lot of football to be played, yet on this evidence some of Tottenham’s key men need to up their game considerably to ensure they are not the ones that ultimately slip out of the Champions League places in what could be the tightest race for those positions since the Premier League was formed.
