Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez.
Tottenham Hotspur have tonight announced that Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez has completed his move to North London, with a work permit to be granted later this week.
Spurs only announced their first signing of the summer this afternoon, as Paulo Gazzaniga made his move from Southampton to become Tottenham’s third-choice goalkeeper and reunite with his former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Now, having been the quietest Premier League team in the transfer market for most of the summer, Tottenham have announced a second signing of the day.
After two weeks of speculation, Tottenham have tonight confirmed that Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez has completed his move to the club, and he posed with his new shirt at the club’s training ground, as seen above.
Tottenham will be granted a work permit for Sanchez later this week, meaning that Pochettino may be able to call upon the Colombian international for this weekend’s game against Burnley at Wembley Stadium.
Sanchez, 21, only joined Ajax from Atletico Nacional in his native Colombia last summer, but he made a huge impact with the Amsterdam giants under Peter Bosz last term.
Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Sanchez possesses great pace, strength and reading of the game, all of which saw him rise from an unknown last season to a Premier League player this term.
Sanchez not only provides depth behind Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, but can also form a back three with the two Belgians, giving Pochettino great options at the back if he does continue to go with three at the back.
With two new faces added today, Tottenham have introduced themselves to the summer transfer window – and it remains to be seen whether Pochettino manages to bring in any other new signings before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.
