Celtic claimed a fantastic 3-0 win over Anderlecht in the Champions League.

One of the most intriguing sub-plots ahead of Celtic’s Champions League clash against Anderlecht was how the Hoops would get on keeping one of their recent transfer targets quiet.
Henry Onyekuru confirmed in September that Celtic had made a move for him, in comments reported by the Daily Record, before he ultimately decided to move to the Premier League to join Everton.
The former Eupen man was immediately loaned out, returning to Belgium to join Anderlecht for the season, and it took fans very little time to realise that that move would present him with the opportunity to quickly prove to Celtic what they were missing as the two sides were drawn in the same Champions League group.

But when the two sides met on Wednesday, it was Brendan Rodgers’ men who were celebrating as they came away from Brussels with an emphatic victory to put themselves in the driving seat to secure third spot – assuming that Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich qualify for the knockout rounds.
The fact that Onyekuru is only on loan at Anderlecht means that last night’s result has probably not left him regretting snubbing Celtic, but one photo perhaps highlights how Rodgers’ men are probably not feeling too disappointed about missing out on the 20-year-old either.

The photo depicts Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon consoling a despondent Onyekuru who is sat on the floor, seemingly feeling the impact of a knock on his leg.
The photo perhaps encapsulates the mood of the game with the look on Onyekuru’s face telling the story of Anderlecht’s night as Celtic proved in emphatic fashion that they are not in Europe simply to make up the numbers this season and should not be underestimated.
