Christian Benteke has been snapped in Aston Villa’s new home shirt for the first time as he continues his comeback from a long-term injury.
Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has been photographed wearing this season’s home shirt for the first time.
The Belgian international has been side-lined for the last five months with an Achilles tendon injury, but the Premier League high-fliers received a huge boost this week when he returned to training.
It is now being reported that Benteke – who moved from Genk to Villa Park for £7million back in 2012 – will be back in contention for a first-team spot before the end of the month.
Villa have started the new campaign in blistering form, winning three and drawing one of their opening four matches. As a result they currently sit second in the table, just two points behind leaders Chelsea who have a 100 per cent record thus far.
Villa have some tough matches coming up, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton all on the horizon; and while Benteke will take time to get back to full fitness, Paul Lambert will be hoping he soon has the prolific front-man back in his exciting young side.
