Marco van Ginkel, Andreas Christensen, Nathan Ake and Patrick Bamford seemed to be enjoying their boat trip with their elders.
Chelsea are currently enjoying a break from the hectic lifestyle with a stay in Austria as part of their pre-season preparations. Yesterday they faced RZ Pellets – drawing with the mid-table Austrian side with plenty of young players on show.
The youth in the team has been a fixture for much of their early pre-season work. However, there is still plenty of experience in the squad – the likes of Petr Cech, Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Matic, new signings Filipe Luis, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa – as well as plenty more are also with the first-team at the moment, even if many did not feature yesterday.
Today however one of the younger members of the team showed off a picture of him and some of the talents in the squad out on a daytrip with two of Chelsea’s most experienced players.
Marco van Ginkel, who missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury, shared this picture of himself, Patrick Bamford, Nathan Ake and Andreas Christensen out on a boat with number one centre-back pairing John Terry and Gary Cahill.
The youngsters dressed in their civvies while the two first-teamers wore their official Chelsea training kits – looking the part as they took their young pretenders out onto the water.
For the four youngsters the pre-season is key, and it is good to see the older professionals getting along well with the players who one day hope to get a chance in the first-team.
Time will tell if Van Ginkel, Bamford, Ake, Christensen and co can ‘rock the boat’ and make it into the Chelsea first-team fold on a regular basis.
