The Hoops were knocked out of the Champions League at the third qualifying round and some Parkhead fans made their feelings clear with a banner in the Betfred Cup.
The Green Brigade unveiled their latest banner ahead of Celtic’s Betfred Cup clash with Dunfermline as they sought to make their feelings clear to the Hoops hierarchy about the direction in which the club appears to be going.
Celtic’s recruitment this season has yielded much criticism amongst sections of the Bhoys fanbase, with some fans slamming the club for the apparently lack of ambition in the transfer market so far, despite windfall from the sales of Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney, plus the compensation package with Leicester City for Brendan Rodgers (The Record).
Neil Lennon’s appointment to the Celtic dugout also remains an unpopular decision taken by the Hoops board, and despite a bright start in the Scottish Premiership, the Parkhead side was humiliated in the Champions League in midweek as they shipped four goals at home and were eliminated by CFR Cluj.
The banner reads: “This is how it feels to be Celtic, downsizing again as you know, the Celtic board are gambling 10 in a row.”
Indeed, Celtic put in a lacklustre display against Dunfermline as they were taken to extra time by the Championship side, Mikey Johnston’s opener cancelled out by Tom Beadling’s equaliser, but James Forrest’s strike in extra-time saved the Bhoys’ blushes as they reached the quarter-finals of the competition.
