Liverpool fans may be hoping for some additions in January, with a centre back surely on Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards’ radar.
The Reds have tied up one deal already though, and it’s a move with the future in mind – which is no great surprise given Liverpool’s approach.
They love to build for the future, and reports broke earlier this week suggesting that Birmingham City teenager Calum Scanlon was on the verge of a move to Anfield.
The Times suggested that Liverpool were paying around £500,000 for Scanlon, with the 15-year-old’s family thinking over a move.
Now, Scanlon has taken to Instagram to confirm the move, showing a photo of himself signing his Liverpool contract.
Scanlon admitted that he was happy to sign the deal, and thanked Birmingham for helping his progress up this point in his fledgling career.
Primarily a left back or midfielder, Scanlon will now hope to break through at Liverpool in the coming years, especially given how Jurgen Klopp gives chances to first team.
Scanlon will also hope to follow in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham in becoming a star out of the Birmingham academy, and Liverpool will be glad to have got in early for his signature.
