Manchester United target and Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger fought on despite suffering a cut during the World Cup final last night.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was one of the most important players for Germany throughout the World Cup.

The 29-year-old Bayern Munich star gives any side he plays for a gritty, determined edge as he sets the example, which others can’t help but find inspiring at key times during important matches.

At one point during the game against Argentina he suffered a small cut to the face but picked himself up after treatment, dusted himself off and got on with helping the German secure their fifth World Cup title.

It’s clear to see why Manchester United are reportedly so interested in signing him because he represents the determined and jagged sort of player which was missing from United’s midfield last season.

Louis van Gaal did well to commission a deal for Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao but United still lack a midfield General and the sort of player who can show the same sort of passion that was on display from Schweinsteiger yesterday.

Whether United can tempt him away from Bayern Munich is doubtful with the German champions under no pressure to sell, but if LvG manages to pull it off, he has the ability to excel in the middle of the Dutchman’s team.
