Spurs had been 2-0 up and cruising to victory in their League Cup tie in the Hammers, but in a crazy second half the match was turned on its head.
West Ham struck what looked like a consolation goal through Andre Ayew just before the hour mark, but it sparked a remarkable comeback.
Ayew scored again soon after, before Angelo Ogbonna nodded home a corner to seal the victory for his side.
Ogbonna’s goal clearly frustrated the Wembley crowd, and Spurs defender Davies was feeling the supporters’ pain.
Tottenham’s loss has caused great frustration, as another chance for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to secure silverware has passed them by.
Although Tottenham do have more important trophies to concentrate on this season, to throw away a lead in such circumstances against a London rival was painful for the Lilywhites fan base.
And Spurs will now be under pressure to bounce back from defeat by beating Manchester United in their next Premier League match.
