It was a glorious night for Aston Villa on Tuesday.

Dean Smith’s side beat West Bromwich Albion on penalties at The Hawthorns to progress into the playoff final on May 27.

Tammy Abraham fired Aston Villa into the showpiece at Wembley during the shootout, after goalkeeper Jed Steer saved from Mason Holgate and Ahmed Hegazy.

Cue wild celebrations from the visiting team after their win was confirmed, but there was one very worrying sight at the very end.

Villans defender Axel Tuanzebe, on loan from Manchester United, was photographed hobbling off the field and being helped by two of the club’s medical staff.

Minutes earlier he was celebrating the victory with his team-mates and it remains to be seen what exactly happened to Tuanzebe, who only returned in April following a three-month absence with injury.

The 21-year-old, replaced by Mile Jedinak just before the shootout for tactical reasons, has been exceptional for Smith’s side in recent weeks and it’s a massive blow if he is ruled out of the final, which will come against Leeds or Derby County.
