Villa midfielder Bjarnason went under the knife to correct a groin injury last week.

Birkir Bjarnason will have impressed Aston Villa fans on Monday morning by uploading a photo that shows the midfielder already beginning his rehabilitation process – just says after going under the knife last week.
Bjarnason has been a key figure of Dean Smith’s side since the latter replaced Steve Bruce at the helm as Villa manager. He has won four of his six games in charge, losing twice.
The 30-year-old confirmed himself that he had undergone an operation on his troublesome groin last Thursday, just days before Sunday’s second city derby against Birmingham City.
Just four days later, Bjarnason posted an update on his Instagram story that will have surprised and impressed Villa fans, as he is already back on the bike and beginning rehab to overcome the groin operation.

The versatile midfielder has made nine appearances for Villa this season, scoring two important goals in the 3-2 win over Wigan Athletic and then the 1-1 draw against Bristol City.
It remains to be seen how long he will be on the sidelines for, though it will be a race against time for the 74-time Iceland international to recover completely before the new year.
