Earlier today, the Arsenal players took to the field at London Colney to prepare for Thursday’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Among the usual first-teamers, one unfamiliar face was spotted in the crowd in north London – Ryan Alebiosu.

What’s the story?

Well, the 20-year-old was spotted taking on Kieran Tierney at London Colney earlier, as Mikel Arteta invited him into training.

It comes after the Islington-born prospect registered seven assists in 14 appearances for the Under-23 side this season, which is very impressive.

Alebiosu also has one goal to his name, having played at right-back as well as on the right of midfield so far this season.

Judging by his output in the final third, he deserves to be involved in first-team training.

You can see the photo of Alebiosu and Tierney below.

Interestingly, one Arsenal supporter likened the Gunners prodigy to Bacary Sagna in the comments section, which is a very bold comparison to make.

After all, the Frenchman is an icon at the Emirates Stadium after making 284 appearances for Arsenal.

Will Arsenal use Ryan Alebiosu?

Behind Takehiro Tomiyasu, Arteta doesn’t really have another right-back who can match the Japan international’s levels.

Calum Chambers has struggled to nail down a place in the side when given a chance, whereas Cedric simply isn’t good enough.

Therefore, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Arteta mould Alebiosu into Tomiyasu 2.0 – a capable backup for the £16m man is certainly needed.

Arteta has worked wonders with Hale End gems such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, although he’s yet to get a defender truly involved from the Academy.

Could Alebiosu be the first? Only time will tell.
