Last night, Arsenal scouts were in attendance as Benfica humiliated Barcelona in the Champions League.
The Gunners clearly wanted to be inside the Estádio da Luz to keep a close eye on someone, but who could it be?
Arsenal and Darwin Nunez
One player Arsenal may have been watching is Darwin Nunez.
You can see a photo of the full list of club scouts below.
The north Londoners haven’t been associated with the 4-cap Uruguay international for a while now, with the last link coming in December 2020.
At the time, it was FourFourTwo who revealed that Arsenal were interested in the 22-year-old.
In that respect, it’s entirely possible that the Gunners travelled to Portugal to get an updated check on the South American.
How did Darwin Nunez play in front of Arsenal scouts?

If Arsenal scouts were there to watch Nunez, then they’ll have been mightily impressed with what they saw.
Benfica’s No.9 scored two goals against Barcelona last night, playing a starring role in the 3-0 win.
In total, Nunez had five shots, scoring with the two that were on target – he also hit the woodwork with another effort, denying him a hat-trick.
Additionally, he embarked on one successful dribble, and made one key pass, according to WhoScored.

It was a true No.9’s display from Nunez, who has the world at his feet.
Even if Arsenal scouts weren’t there to watch him, they’ll have travelled back to north London with him in mind after such a great display.
With Alexandre Lacazette’s contract ending in June, it’s entirely possible that Edu could be on the lookout for a new striker.
Aged just 22, the future looks seriously bright for the Benfica hitman.
