Chile currently sit seventh after eight games, with only the top five teams qualifying.
Ecuador, who host this evening’s match, sit in fifth, and Sanchez’s Chile cannot afford a defeat.
They have won just three of their eight matches so far, and sit five points behind Conmebol leaders Uruguay.
Sanchez, 27, has scored four goals in seven Premier League games for Arsenal, and one in two Champions League matches.
Chile face strugglers Peru in the early hours of next Wednesday in a home fixture.
