Aaron Ramsey’s popularity has certainly reached the US.
While Cesc Fabregas made his Chelsea debut at the weekend, Arsenal supporters remain buoyant their own midfield star can lead them to further success.
Aaron Ramsey scored the winner for the club in the 2014 FA Cup Final over Hull City, and even bigger and better things are expected this coming campaign.
His popularity is soaring among the club’s support, with two fans in New York paying tribute to the Welshman at the weekend, dubbing him a ‘superhero’.
Ramsey’s performances in 2013/14 were of that ilk, a dramatic upward turnaround on the previous campaign.
Manager Arsene Wenger revealed the reason for the turnaround earlier this week, citing a heart-to-heart and plea to keep it simple helped him out.
“You have to get back to basics to gain confidence. Aaron accepted that, he did it and he gained confidence again. Then you saw a different player, because he is intelligent, and when I came out of the meeting I knew this guy would come back.”
Statistics showed that before he got injured last season, the former Cardiff City midfielder was outperforming Steven Gerrard and Yaya Toure in several areas.
Ramsey vs Toure and Gerrard gameweeks 1-19
| Player | Team | Pos | Goals / apps | Assist / apps | Won Tackle / apps | Interception Won / apps | Pass Accuracy % | Touches / apps | Apps | Mins |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yaya Touré | Man City | MF | 0.50 | 0.17 | 0.94 | 0.83 | 90.62 | 87.00 | 18 | 1,607 |

| Steven Gerrard | Liverpool | MF | 0.20 | 0.40 | 1.80 | 1.07 | 86.80 | 86.20 | 15 | 1,289 |
That was almost ‘superhero’ form, and if he can match or even better that next season, he could turn out to be Cesc Fabregas’ kryptonite.
