Arsenal defender William Saliba is on the verge of leaving the club on loan – and has been photographed in Marseille.
The defender joined Arsenal for £27million in the summer of 2019, snubbing rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a move to join Unai Emery’s side.
He was sent straight back on loan with Saint-Etienne, returning to Arsenal last summer – but Mikel Arteta left him out of his side for months.
Saliba spent the second half of last term on loan at Nice, and Arsenal fans were hoping they would finally see him in action for the Gunners this coming season.
The 20-year-old still isn’t in Arteta’s plans though, and Fabrizio Romano claims that the paperwork has been signed for Saliba to join Marseille.
Marseille have already signed Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi on loan with an option to buy, though Saliba’s loan to the Ligue 1 side won’t have a permanent option.
One Marseille fan has even posted a photo alongside Saliba, with the pair holding up a Marseille scarf together with his move now on the verge of being done.
It’s another season away for Saliba, and it now looks like his wait for an Arsenal debut will extend to three years since his arrival in 2019 once his loan at Marseille is up.
