Premier League stars Michy Batshuayi and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou welcomed him to English football.

Leeds United fans were left, predictably, disappointed by transfer deadline day. The club failed to bring in a new striker before the window shut but did manage to sign up another central midfielder in Eunan O’Kane from Bournemouth – a position in which they are already well stocked.

But it looks like they have also signed another mystery player, at least judging by this Instagram post.

Of course there has been no official word on this signature, so the following is educated guesswork. Also, the original picture has now been deleted from Instagram, but here is a screengrab from Twitter courtesy of @Robinson_JJ:

The player appears to be Amadou Haidara. That is not the Haidara who once starred for the Mali youth team and is currently plying his trade for FC Liefering in Austria.

This lad appears to be 22-year-old French defender Amadou Haidara, formerly of Nantes.

Since leaving Nantes in 2014 he has spent time on trial at Nottingham Forest, as this report from the Nottingham Post confirms.

Last summer he turned up in Portugal, Mais Futebol reporting him as being on trial at Pacos de Ferreira.

In between those two trial periods and turning up at Leeds yesterday, his whereabouts is fairly unknown.

But the man in the picture with him appears to be football agent Meissa N’Diaye. He represents the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Wissam Ben Yedder and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou.

He is also the agent for Leeds players Sol Bamba and Hadi Sacko.

Sacko even commented on his Instagram, welcoming him to the club. As did Chelsea’s big summer signing Batshuayi and Spurs newbie N’Koudou. Marseille midfielder William Vainquer, himself also a client of N’Diaye, also welcomed him.

So it appears, on the face of it, that Haidara is indeed a Leeds player.

But some Leeds fans on Twitter are starting to think it might all just be a light-hearted joke from Haidara, his agent and some of his friends – Sacko included.

Hopefully an official announcement will clear things up soon.
